Christmas in August
Chestnuts roasting on an open fireJack Frost nipping at your noseYule-tide carols beings sung by a choir... That's right! We're getting ready to start our Christmas Choir again! And soon, those Yule-tide carols will fill the air as we begin practicing and preparing for Christmas! Remember how much fun we had last year! So, to begin the festivities, the choir is excited to host their 6th annual Christmas in August. And you're invited! On Sunday, August 28th at noon, we will be having a choir fellowship to present our music and plans for the 2016 Christmas presentations. Maybe you love to sing! Maybe you attend a different service than the one that the choir typically sings in! Maybe you've been thinking for a while now that you want to join the choir! Maybe you just can't find the time to commit to being a part of the choir year round, but would enjoy being a part of Christmas Choir! Maybe you're already a part of the choir! Well, if any of those statements are true, then come to Christmas in August and join us for this year's choir! This year, our Christmas Choir will meet for practices on Sunday afternoons at 4:30 pm.

Back To Work Days Women on Mission will gather on Tuesday, August 23 for a work day at 9:30 a.m. This will be a meeting devoted to mission action activities. The women will be making quilts for Grand Oak Mission. Each year our women make 12 to 15 regular size quilts and 60 to 80 baby and children's quilts for the mission center to distribute to those in need. Some of the women will be making salvation bracelets. These are used by the Greene County Baptist Mission Teams in their outreach ministries in Mexico each summer. In July of 2016, our church made and delivered over 3,000 bracelets to be used in this outreach ministry of sharing the gospel. The bracelets are wonderful "attention getters." They are a great way to get a conversation going when meeting someone new, especially one who speaks another language. They are a joy to make and an Interesting way to present the gospel to people of all ages. The work day begins at 9:30 in fellowship hall under the direction of Barbara Fisher, quilting chairman and Doris Whitcher, chairman of the salvation bracelets. A coffee/snack/chat break will occur at about 10:15 with Doris Whitcher serving as hostess. The work day will conclude at about 11:30 with no lunch being served. New workers are always welcome. Come and enjoy the sharing time together.
