On August 16, 2016 The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ("FERC") released an Order Issuing a New License to Duke Energy Carolinas LLC ("Duke Energy")  to continue the operation and maintenance of its Keowee-Toxaway Hydroelectric Project ("Project") which includes Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee.  The original license issued for the Project on September 26 1966 will expire on August 31, 2016.  The new license, which is effective for thirty years commencing September 1, 2016, establishes new maintenance and operating protocols which, among other matters, include management of the lake levels and the expansion of existing private docks to reach deeper water.
