February 2013
Greetings!

Okay, I admit it. I am still working on the same New Year's resolution I made last year -- and strangely enough, it's the exact resolution I made the year before... and the year before that... But this time, I am determined to stick with my plan to be healthier. I will eat better, I will exercise, and I will commit myself to a better way of living. That's why you'll see me Feb. 10 at the Health and Wellness Fair at Ludovici Park. Let's all vow to meet there to dust off our resolutions together. See you at the park on Sunday.

~ Mayor Shelley Stanczyk

Senior Talent Show
Get Your Act Together for $300
That's right, one lucky senior Villager will win $300 cash for performing in the "Boomers Got Talent" contest; second and third place winners will receive $200 and $100, respectively. Participants need to visit the Village website to complete the registration form and quickly e-mail it to Mary Fernandez in order to get your act together for the big show. Performers must be 55 or over to compete -- so no whippersnappers. Whether you are performing or spectating, we expect this event to be a really big shoe!

Revisit Your New Year Resolutions
Few things are more important than your health. To help residents remain committed to their fitness and well-being goals for the new year, the Village is hosting its 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Fair, on Sunday, Feb. 10 (noon-5pm) at Ludovici Park. Join us to meet with different organizations and local businesses that can help assess your personal health, set goals, and help you actually achieve them. Gather great information, enjoy demonstrations, and pick up free give aways. Palmetto Bay Parks & Recreation Department staff will be promoting Village-based programs such as tennis, boot camp, tai chi, and much more. Mayor Stanczyk and the Village Council also will be in on hand, as will be Commissioner Lynda Bell -- but the real stars of this fair will be on the amphitheater stage, from 2 to 4 p.m., during the senior talent show, "Boomer's Got Talent," sponsored by the Ludovici family. Visit the Village website or call 305-259-1234 for more information.
