Village Municipal Complex Receives #1 LEED Rating by USGBC
The Village of Palmetto Bay hosts a major press conference, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m., to announce official designation of its Municipal Complex as a Platinum LEED building by the US Green Building Council -- the highest recognition available for green building design and construction. The Palmetto Bay Municipal Center now ranks as the first and only government office building in the state of Florida to attain this certification.
"With this official designation, bestowed upon the Village on October 5, 2012, Palmetto Bay becomes the first and only municipal structure in the State of Florida to officially receive this honor," says mayor Shelley Stanczyk. "It is also the highest scoring government building in all the Southeast U.S., by LEED standards."
Subject matter experts will be available following the press conference to provide details and media interviews. A facility tour will also be conducted for residents and guests, and include demonstrations of the multiple LEED systems: the largest solar-panel array in Miami-Dade, efficient LED lighting, xeriscape landscape design & irrigation system, 60,000-gallon rainwater collection cisterns, and more.
The Village completed construction of its Village Hall/Police Station/Emergency Operations Center in 2010. LEED stands for "Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design."
Palmetto Bay Village Hall is located at 9705 E. Hibiscus St., Palmetto Bay, FL 33157
