ABILENE, Kansas - Robert H. "Hank" Royer, Jr. presented a gift of $35,000 to the Eisenhower Foundation on behalf of the Jeffcoat Memorial Foundation. This gift will be used to replace the audio and video equipment in the Visitors Center Auditorium of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. The Visitors Center Auditorium is used for public programs at the Eisenhower Library including the Annual Royer Film Festival held in memory of Hank's grandfather, a founding member of the Eisenhower Foundation and high school classmate of Dwight D. Eisenhower. The current sound system is original to the 1975 construction of the building and is incompatible with newer technology resulting in poor quality audio for special events and daily programming. The new system will provide high definition resolution for videos. Additionally, a hearing assist system will be added to better serve our hearing impaired visitors. A new screen and laser projector will provide a more positive viewer experience with the wide-screen format.
Public programs and exhibits are only made possible thanks to the generous donations given to the Eisenhower Foundation. To learn more about giving opportunities, please contact the Eisenhower Library Director Karl Weissenbach or Eisenhower Foundation Executive Director Meredith Sleichter at 785.263.6700.
