D-Day with the Big Red One

ABILENE, Kan. -  The public is invited to a brown bag lunch presentation on March 25 at noon in the Visitors Center Auditorium of the Eisenhower Presidential Library.  

 

John McManus will discuss D-Day with the Big Red One. McManus will focus on several key individuals who were instrumental in the division's victory at Omaha beach.    

  

McManus is an award-winning professor, author and military historian. He is currently Curators' Professor of U.S. Military History at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T). A St. Louis native, McManus earned an M.A. in American history from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in American history and military history from the University of Tennessee. He is the author of 11 books and served as historical advisor for the bestselling book and documentary Salinger, the latter of which appeared nationwide in theaters and on PBS's American Masters Series.  

 

Copies of McManus's most recent book will be available for sale in the gift shop for signing following the brown bag discussion.
