204th Army Band to Perform at the Eisenhower Presidential Library

ABILENE, Kan. - The 204th Army Band, United States Army Reserve, from Vancouver, Wash., will perform a free concert Wednesday, July 30 at 7 p.m. on the steps of the Eisenhower Presidential Library.

The band will be based at Fort Riley as part of its two week annual training and will perform several area concerts including Lansing, Bonner Springs, Manhattan, and Clay Center as well as at the 18th and Vine Jazz Museum in Kansas City.

The 204th Army Band is commanded and conducted by Chief Warrant Officer Robert A. Nicholas, a 1999 graduate of Wichita State University and former director of bands of Unified School District 469, Lansing, Kan.

"Although the Army could have sent the 204th Army Band to any active duty installation for training this year, I am grateful that the decision was made to send us to Fort Riley. As a former Kansas resident, I am looking forward to performing for the appreciative audiences that I got to know so well during my 12 years as a musician in this beautiful state," Nicholas stated.

The 204th Army Band's presentation will include a performance from its 40 member concert band as well as numerous smaller musical performance teams that are drawn from the larger band as a whole. One can expect a wide variety of musical styles and tastes to be represented during the band's performance.

Although the 40 member band is located in southwest Washington State, band members come from various areas including Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and Kansas and perform around the country. The 204th Army Band falls under the 88th Regional Support Command, United States Army Reserve, which is located at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.
