Author of "Eisenhower in War and Peace"
 to Speak at Presidential Library      

ABILENE, Kan. -  The new book, Eisenhower in War and Peace, will be discussed by author Jean Edward Smith at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. The program is set for Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Visitors Center auditorium. The public is invited to attend this free program.

Well known for his biographies of famous Americans including FDR and Grant, Smith's new book reacquaints us with Dwight D. Eisenhower. The book details Ike's journey from Abilene to West Point, to World War II, the presidency and beyond. Derived from many primary sources, Smith's book offers a fresh look at Eisenhower throughout his life.  

 

A member of the faculty at the University of Toronto for 35 years and at Marshall University for 12, Smith is currently a senior scholar in the history department of Columbia.

 

Copies of  Eisenhower in War and Peace will be available for sale in the gift shop. A book signing will follow the discussion.   

 

Visitors are encouraged to park in the Place of Meditation parking lot, just south of the Visitors Center. The north parking lot at the Visitors Center is scheduled to be closed for repairs Oct. 29 through Nov. 12.
