The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts returns this Spring and builds on its previous events held in 2011 and 2013. This citywide festival showcases Philly's vibrant visual and performing arts scene. In 16 days, more than 60 performances, all curated by the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, will take place at select venues throughout the city.
"We Are What We Make"
is the vision for this edition of PIFA. The centerpiece of this year's festival is a massive installation in the lobby of the Kimmel Center by artist Mimi Lien, recipient of a 2015 MacArthur Genius Award, bringing this vision to life. Two huge events mark the opening and closing of this celebration of the Arts. From April 8-10, a huge and free fire and sand installation at Penn Treaty Park on the Delaware River Waterfront will serve as the Grand Opening Event. To close out the event, the PIFA Street Fair will return taking over nine blocks of Broad Street for a massive, free party filled with vendors, artisans, entertainment, street performers and more! Check the PIFA website for a calendar of events and more information.
