Saint Paul Area Council of Churches Reports on Its New Strategic Plan: St Paul's on the Hill Sends Representatives

The May 2nd Saint Paul Area Council of Churches (SPACC) annual meeting was dominated by the council's report on its new strategic plan. Saint Paul's on the Hill was represented at the meeting by David Gemmel, Pearl Jackson, Betty Pat Leach, and the Rev. Diana Rogers.
Using the theme of "We're Changing," SPACC introduced its new mission and vision statements (see below) and emphasized its new initiative to expand its membership to include all manner of Christian traditions plus reaching out to Jewish, Unitarian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and other communities of faith.
While affirming its long commitment to addressing the needs of children and families in poverty it anticipates that its cur
rent programs will evolve and change to navigate the rapidly changing contours of poverty in the greater Saint Paul area. Placing its faith in the transformational experiences of its volunteers it will work towards an "even greater collaboration and partnership with other organizations addressing the basic welfare of all our neighbors in the communities where we live."
Mission Statement:
We unite the people, resources, and voice of the faith community to build a more just, safe, and livable East Metro for all.
Vision Statement:
People of faith will relieve the effects of poverty and address its causes through the transformative work of thousands of volunteers.
