NAMC submits Strategic Plan 2016/17 to Parliament

The National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) submitted their Strategic Plan for 2016/17 to the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Parliament this past week, and which was approved by the Portfolio Committee. Please click on NAMC Strategic Plan to peruse.

CAADP Partnership Platform: Reflections and Perspectives

Tinashe Kapuya, Agbiz: Head International Trade and Investment Intelligence, attended the African Union's annual African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) held in Ghana on 12 - 14 April. The event was themed "Innovative Financing and Renewed Partnerships".   Read the feedback report here�
Advancing regional agro-food value chains in Africa - UNDP

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held an experience sharing workshop from 11 - 12 April 2016 in Accra, Ghana.  The workshop presented various case studies of food projects that were implemented in various countries in West Africa. Tinashe Kapuya, Head: International Trade and Investment Intelligence at Agbiz, highlights some issues in the linked report.
Indonesia grants Country of Recognition status to 15 South African horticultural products

Fresh fruits The Indonesian Quarantine Agency has granted Country of Recognition for South Africa's food safety control system, thereby increasing the export potential for the country's deciduous fruit. The document was signed by the Indonesian minister of agriculture, Amran Sulaiman, on Monday 11 April 2016.  
A number of products have been included, namely apples, apricots, cherries, citrus fruits, grapes, grapefruit, lemons, nectarines, oranges, peaches, pears, peanuts, plums, grapefruit and prunes.  More information
