SACAU/AgriSA update on current drought affecting southern Africa

AgriSA and SACAU jointly on Tuesday hosted a press conference to discuss how the drought is affecting southern Africa. Ishmael Sunga, SACAU CEO, said not enough research or data is available to reflect the full extent of the drought. He said stakeholders in private sector should get involved through sponsorships for research in trying to determine what is really happening in the distant rural areas of southern Africa.  In addition a conference could assist in getting inputs from stakeholders on how to solve problems on ground level.

The following presentations were done at the conference:
Farmers'perspectives and the way forward (Ishmael Sunga, SACAU CEO).
South African drought report (Omri van Zyl, Agri SA Executive Director).
