High level U.S. food trade mission heads for SA
In line with U.S. initiatives to boost food trade with Africa, a high level agribusiness trade delegation will head to Johannesburg in September to showcase bilateral trade opportunities in the sector. The U.S.-Sub-Saharan Africa Agribusiness Trade Mission (ATM), headed by U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Deputy Secretary Krysta Harden, will include four days of business discussions and meetings in Sandton from 16 to 19 September. Aiming to increase trade and collaboration, the ATM will represent market sectors including processed foods, food ingredients, agricultural equipment, technology and animal feeds, horticultural plant stock, bulk foodstuffs, nuts and legumes, livestock, poultry products and genetics, fruit and beverages (please peruse link for profiles of participating US companies).
The U.S. delegates will meet top South African and pan-African importers, distributors, agents, retailers and wholesalers in a series of business-to-business meetings in Sandton from Tuesday 17 September to Thursday 19 September, with a view to opening new bilateral trade opportunities. A representative of the USDA - GSM 102 programme will also be available for private meetings with local importers to discuss the provision of risk protection to support their import transactions. Meeting opportunities are available for accredited South African enterprises on Tuesday 17 September. To obtain a complete list of the product and service offerings from participating U.S. companies and to request scheduled meetings with prospective US counterparts, contact Wilna Lindes at wilna@tradeprojects.co.za.
