LOVE YOUR TUMMY!                                                 September 2015

With summer coming to a close, it's time to get back to your normal routine and start showing your tummy some love! Poor digestive health can affect your mood, energy, concentration and ability to fight sickness so keeping your tummy healthy is important.  Try making these healthy tummy tips a part of your daily routine:
  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals while maintaining a healthy caloric intake. Be sure to have breakfast and avoid large meals late at night --your last meal should be no later than two hours before bedtime
  • Eat lean meats such as chicken, turkey, or lean cuts of beef, pork or lamb
  • Try to eat fish 3 to 5 times a week
  • Consume products that contain pre and probiotics
  • Drink plenty of water each day while minimizing your intake of caffeinated, alcoholic, and sugar-rich or artificially sweetened beverages such as pop and fruit juices
  • Don't forget to exercise! Exercise 2-3 times a week and do not smoke
  • Avoid foods that are greasy, high in fat, and fried
  • Take your time when eating to chew food well and slowly
