Looks like Green Buildings out there!

Green Breakfast Club Presents:

Social Equity Pilot Credit

May 28th 8:30-10am
At 50 Milk St, 17th Floor

Learn how you can address the social equity of your green building project through the LEED system.

The USGBC has identified "fostering social equity" as a driving principle in its strategic plan, and in 2014, launched three new Social Equity credits as part of the LEED v4 Pilot Credit Library. The three credits; Social Equity in the Project, Social Equity in the Community, and Social Equity in the Supply Chain reward project teams for implementing best practices in improving social equity.

Presenter Shawn Hesse serves on the LEED Technical Working Group, where he coauthored the new Social Equity LEED credits, and is on the board of the USGBC Massachusetts Chapter.  Shawn also serves on the national board of ADPSR, working to improve social justice in the built environment.

Get ready for the Green Apple Day of Service

The Green Schools Committee and USGBC MA Chapter will again participate in the Green Apple Day of Service to advance healthy, sustainable schools in 2015!

Are you interested in supporting this exciting project? We are going to see over 75 projects in the Commonwealth this year and need a big team to help coordinate all the volunteers and support the mini-grant program. Projects will occur throughout the fall at schools, with the main event intended for Saturday, September 27th.

Examples of service projects include indoor or outdoor clean ups, preparing a garden, creating signage that helps to reduce waste, or any other project that promotes healthy schools and community service. If you are interested in helping out, please email our Programs Manager, Celis Brisbin, at celis@usgbcma.org

Quarterly Combined Committees Gathering

50 Milk St, Boston, 15th Floor

June 15th, 5:30-7:30pm

Each season, we convene representatives from all corners of the USGBC MA Chapter to focus on our strategy. As an organization, we attend to a lot of different initiatives collectively. At the Quarterly Gathering, we reconnect to synergize, share, and coordinate plans for the coming months.

We have a lot of events and campaigns in process and each committee will report briefly on what they are working on. This includes:

  • The Green Building Showcase
  • Advocacy campaigns for green building policies
  • Our educational programming
  • ADVANCE: the service project dimension of the Chapter, including the Green Apple Day of Service

During the working session we will break out into small teams to explore how our community can organize and make progress with:

  • Recognizing "Green Giants" - the people who are making a difference in our industry and in the sustainability movement in general (in Massachusetts)
  • Regional programming to support our colleages throughout New England and Upstate New York
  • Organizing our Massachusetts contingent going to Monumental Greenbuild in DC, in November this year
  • Building our membership base to connect with important constituencies related to: green schools, building tech, our advocacy work, national USGBC member firms, and others

Come join us for this important work. Refreshments will be provided.
