Save the Date: Annual Meeting 1/22/15
Wentworth Institute of Technology
The Chapter will convene the membership and welcome newcomers from 5-8pm at WIT, exact location TBD. We are excited to welcome students into the mix. Thank you to Abby Charest, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering, for connecting us to Wentworth.
This year we are hosting a mini-expo of "building tech" startups and research teams from across Massachusetts who want to show off their innovations to our green building professionals. It should be fun.

The Chapter Advocates
The USGBC MA Chapter held a "Green Building Legislative Roundtable" on Thursday 11/12 at the Massachusetts State House. Sen. Jamie Eldridge hosted 6 of our member-volunteers and staff representatives from three legislative offices. We discussed the USGBC MA advocacy agenda and heard from the Beacon Hill folks about their process.
Our priorities for the coming year are:
- Improving the building codes (both residential and commercial)
- Expanding building benchmarking
- Facilitating renewables & energy efficiency financing so it can take off
There are many other issues we are tracking. Our next steps are to identify a slate of bills to endorse and urge cosponsorship by legislators that we are connected to throughout the state. We will be reaching out to all our stakeholders to build political momentum on our priorities.
If you are interested in participating, email info@usgbcma.org for more details. Thank you to John DiModica or Kate Bubriski who are volunteering to serve as Co-Chairs of our advocacy committee for 2015!

GPRO is Coming to Massachusetts!
GPRO, the contractor and operations professional training system for green building expertise, is coming to Massachusetts.
The USGBC MA is partnering with New York City's Urban Green Council to make available this innovative training system for professionals in our state. It is especially useful for people not interested in the design-focus of LEED but who need to be more adept with green building concepts and practices.
Take a look here to learn more about GPRO, and let us know if you're interested in either taking a course or becoming a trainer.
