It's August - I hope you're enjoying your summer.

Can you have fun with green buildings? Of course you can! Check out our calendar:

Next Saturday, 8/23, is our EPMA Summer Bike Tour from Cambridge into Boston along the Emerald Necklace.

We are seeking sponsors for our 2014 LEED Project Showcase - to be held 9/30 at Genzyme in Cambridge. If you, as a Chapter member, worked on a LEED certified project, even if it was built outside of MA, you can enter it in the Showcase.

A lot of information is getting onto our blog now - events, programs, advocacy campaigns and more. Following our blog is another way to keep track of our opportunities.

Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list, and don't forget to check us out on LinkedIn, twitter and facebook!

Emerging Professionals Summer Bike Tour

The Emerging Professionals committee (EPMA) will be hosting a FREE bicycle tour on August 23rd. We will cycle from Cambridge, across the Charles, through the Fenway, along the Emerald Necklace to the Arnold Arboretum. This is open to all professionals who are passionate about green buildings!

The tour will be led by Jessica Mink, representing the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, a non-profit focused on maintaining and protecting the parks that consist of the Emerald Necklace.

Come join the EPMA committee in seeing the beauty and learning about the history of the wonderful park system design by landscape architecture giant Fredrick Law Olmstead!

2014 LEED Project Showcase

The LEED Project Showcase is a way to recognize the hard-earned achievement that LEED Certification signifies. This gathering is a chance to show off the successes and the learnings that these buildings represent, and a chance to re-connect with peers in the trade. It is guaranteed to be a great event!

All projects certified since 1/1/13 are eligible for this year's Showcase. Each team will be solicited to create a poster to display at the Showcase. These posters will also become part of our online resource profiling each LEED project in Massachusetts. USGBC MA Chapter members who worked on projects certified outside of the state are also allowed to submit those projects "designed in Massachusetts" to this Showcase.

Read about last year's program here.

The Showcase is also a major fundraiser for the Chapter - necessary to sustain our finances as we pursue our mission and work on our advocacy campaigns, public education & outreach, and engage with disadvantaged communities. Thank you for your support!

You or your firm can sponsor this awesome event! Explore the options here.

When: Tuesday, September 30th, 2014, 5:30 - 8:30pm

Location:  Genzyme, 500 Kendall St, Cambridge

Green Apple Day of Service is coming 9/27/14

Organize a service project at your school!

A service project can be as simple as a natural area clean-up effort, or as complex as building a schoolyard garden or performing an energy audit on an entire school. Read more about how to do one at your school at our website.

You can apply for your project to be funded! We created mini-grants to support the projects. The mini-grants have been generously provided by NStar, National Grid, Re-Stream, Triumph Modular and Capitol Waste Services - contact Steve Muzzy at smuzzy@usgbcma.org if you would like to learn more about this opportunity.

The USGBC started the Green Apple Day of Service in 2012 to advance healthy, sustainable schools for all students in America (and beyond). This is a great opportunity for our green building community to come together and support our communities. We had over 50 projects in Massachusetts in 2013. Let's have more this year!
