    Dr. Jim Zingale will review with us the latest 2016-2017 revenue projections for the state of Florida to assist us with our statewide advocacy strategies.

     Status of 2016-2017 Division of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Grant Recommendations

     The Florida Division of Cultural Affairs (DCA) completed all of its grant panels and Florida Council on Arts & Culture meetings and submitted its 2016-2017 ranked grants' lists to Secretary of State Ken Detzner for his review and approval.  Once the Secretary approves DCA's four-ranked lists of grant recommendations for 2016-2017, these lists (see below) will be submitted to the Florida Legislature for its consideration to recommend the appropriations needed to fully fund        all 532 of these qualified grants.
      
     Below are the 2016-2017 numbers PRIOR to the Secretary of State's final approval as of 10/16/15:

     Easy steps you can do now before we get the final word from the Secretary of State's office that he has signed off on the four ranked 2016-2017 DCA grant recommendations' lists:

Do you know graphic 1.  Know who your Florida Representative and Senator are in the Florida Legislature.  Learn about them and the committees they serve on.  Go here.

2.  Make sure you have your Florida Representative's and Senator's and their key legislative staff members' contact information in your email and address books.


3.
  Join their Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, newsletters/updates sign up, and other social media sites they might participate in.



Leadership Circle 4.  Check to see if you have either House or Senate members who represent your county in Legislative Leadership, House & Senate Appropriations, or House & Senate TED.  Add to your email and address books.

Time to pay attention 5.  Pay attention to your emails from now throughout legislative session for future FCA Briefings and Alerts. 

    

     Once we know we can move ahead with our 2016-2017 Florida Legislative Platform, we'll let you know the next advocacy steps to take.  Before we start advocating for these ranked DCA 2016-2017 grant recommendations, we need to make sure the Secretary has signed off on them.
