Behind the Red Pen ...
Redding Teachers Share Passion For Poetry

When some of Redding's educators aren't instructing, they are appreciating and creating award-winning poetry.

On Sunday, October 20 at 4:00pm, a selection of teachers from Redding Elementary, John Read Middle and Joel Barlow High schools will come together at the Mark Twain Library to share their passion for poems. Each reading their favorite works and/or their own poetry, this informal Poetry Slam of sorts would certainly have thrilled the Library's founder, Mark Twain, a self-acclaimed poet himself.

The event will be emceed by the CT Poet of the Year Jack Powers, a teacher at Joel Barlow High School.

To date, other teachers participating include:

Paige Classey, Maggie Egan, Janice Garvey, Dan Geraghty, Megan Zabilansky, Kristin Keeney, Angela Staron from JBHS

Danielle Lingo, Kerry McKay and Michelle Pranger from JRMS

Cathy Grimes from RES

Bernard Josefsberg, Ed.D, Superintendent of Schools

Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Please register online: www.marktwainlibrary.org, at the library, or call: 203.938.2545
