Community Recycling Event Planned for September 17

The Bloomingdale Township Highway Department and Itasca Bank & Trust Co., in partnership with the Village of Roselle, are hosting the Roselle Recycles event on Saturday, September 17 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. at the Roselle Metra Station, 540 Irving Park Rd. Roselle Recycles will be held in the north parking lot of the Metra Station, off of Lawrence Ave. (enter through Rose Dr. E.) and is free and open to the public.
The following items will be accepted at the Roselle Recycles event:
- On-Site Document Shredding: 4-5 boxes (up to 100 lbs.) per person limit, no newspapers, magazines, or binders (sponsor: Itasca Bank & Trust Co.)
- Electronic Recycling: computers and peripherals, data center equipment (power suppliers), and office and telecommunication equipment (copiers, fax machines, phone systems, cell phones, hand held devices, projection equipment, audio equipment, video equipment, TVs, calculators, security equipment, typewriters). Electronic recycling is limited toRoselle residents and Bloomingdale Township residents only, proof of residency is required (sponsor: Bloomingdale Township Highway Commissioner Bob Czernek)
- Thermometer Recycling: thermometers containing mercury and thermostats (event partner: S.C.A.R.C.E)
- Winter Clothing: coats, gloves, snow pants, mittens, scarves, hats, and boots (event partner: Maddie's Mitten March)
- Bicycles: working or non-working bikes, bike parts and accessories. (event partner: Working Bikes)
- Soft Covered Books (event partner: St. Walter Catholic Church)
- Hard Covered Books (event partner: Roselle Public Library)
- Eye Glasses, Hearing Aids, Printer Ink Cartridges, Cell Phones, Holiday Lights, Keys (event partner: Roselle Lions Club)
- Shoes: new or gently worn gym shoes/sneakers (event partner: Lake Park Lancers Boosters Club)
Household hazard waste (light bulbs, paint, batteries) or medications of any kind will not be accepted at the Roselle Recycles event. Visit the Village's website at www.roselle.il.us/RoselleRecycles for details.

Garbage Pickup on Delayed Schedule Next Week

Refuse and recycling pickup will be delayed by one day the week of Labor Day, September 5.

Maple Ave. Commuter Lot Closure Planned for September 6-8
|
 The Maple Ave. commuter parking lot is scheduled to be closed September 6 through 8 for the resurfacing and re-striping of the lot, weather permitting.
Commuters with permits for the Maple Ave. lot are directed to park in either the North Permit Lot (use Rose Dr. East entrance off of Lawrence Ave.) or the South Permit Lot (entrance on Irving Park Rd.). Daily fee parking is available adjacent to the North Permit Lot.
Maple Ave. permits will not be honored at the Schaumburg Metra Station or in the Roselle daily fee lot. Please call Roselle Public Works at (630) 671-2360 for more information about this temporary lot closure.

Service Academy Information Night September 14
|
Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth's office is hosting a Service Academy Night for high school students and their families on September 14 at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Representatives from the Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and West Point will give presentations about their respective schools and speak directly with students. Information will also be available for students on how to apply for a Congressional nomination to the academies.
