Village Board Updates Strategic Plan for 2016-2018
|
The Village Board officially adopted its updated Strategic Plan for 2016-2018 at the August 8 meeting, establishing goals for the next several years. The four identified strategic priorities for 2016-2018 include financial sustainability, effective governance, infrastructure, and economic development.
The Village Board engaged in a strategic planning process during three sessions facilitated by Northern Illinois University Center for Governmental Studies in April 2016. The planning process included an assessment of the environment within which the Village operates, with an examination of the Village's internal and external challenges. Among the identified challenges for the Village are state issues (state budget, unfunded mandates), local economic development efforts, ComEd's proposed West Central Reliability Project, citizen engagement, infrastructure replacement and improvement, and fiscal sustainability.
For more information, including the full report from the Northern Illinois University Center for Governmental Studies and the strategic initiative action plans, visit the Strategic Plan 2016-2018 page on the Village's website.

School Starts Soon - Please Remember to Drive Carefully
|
Most of the local school districts kick off their new school year next week - motorists should be prepared to be especially careful and watch for children on their way to and from school.
Drivers can help protect children by being especially careful near schools and in residential areas, watching their speed, and obeying the adult crossing guard. Please remember to slow down in school zones and drive carefully!

Police Department Holding AARP Smart Driver Course September 7 & 8

The Roselle Police Department, in cooperation with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), is hosting a Smart Driver Course on September 7 & 8.
The class will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on each day of the two-day course, at the Roselle Police Department, 103 S. Prospect. The cost is $15.00 for AARP members or $20.00 for non-members. The fee covers all classroom materials. Coffee and rolls will be served.
The program is a two-day course and is open to all drivers. Participants will refine existing driving skills and develop safe, defensive driving techniques. They will review how to handle adverse driving conditions and traffic hazards and learn about the effects of aging and medication on driving, and much more.
The Smart Driver Course results in safer roads for everyone. Older drivers benefit from increased confidence on the road, better driving records, lower insurance rates and a continuing mobile, independent lifestyle for additional years.
