May 7: Bloomingdale Township Electronic Recycling Event, 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Bloomingdale Township Highway Department, 6N030 Rosedale Ave. This event is free, but is limited to Bloomingdale Township residents (Roselle residents who reside in DuPage County) only.
May 31: Deadline to purchase vehicle stickers. Stickers purchased after May 31 are subject to late fee penalties. The graduated fine schedule, along with additional information about purchasing vehicle stickers, is posted on the Village of Roselle website.

Legislation Introduced Requiring ComEd's Proposed High-Voltage Line Through Roselle To Run Underground
|
Legislation requiring the high-voltage lines in ComEd's proposed West Central Reliability Project to be run underground was introduced in Springfield yesterday. The status of House Bill 6570, which was proposed by Representative Fred Crespo on behalf of the coalition of communities opposing ComEd's proposed plan, is available of the Illinois General Assembly website. Mayor Gayle Smolinski, Trustees Andy Maglio and Wayne Domke, and Village Administrator Jeff O'Dell spent time in Springfield this week to talk with state legislators and the governor about issues that are important to Roselle, including the undergrounding of the proposed high-voltage lines. Illinois Tollway Hosting I-390 Tollway Informational Open House

The Illinois Tollway is hosting an informational meeting about the I-390 Tollway Project on Thursday, May 12 at Elk Grove Village Hall, 901 Wellington Ave., Elk Grove, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Illinois Tollway is moving forward in 2016 with roadway construction on the eastern segment of the new I-390 Tollway, from I-290 to Illinois Route 83. This construction includes completion of the frontage roads along I-390 and construction of new interchanges at Wood Dale Road and Illinois Route 83. Work will also continue on the I-290 Interchange at I-390 this year. Community members and local business owners are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about upcoming construction and for information about the start of cashless tolling on I-390 from Lake St. to I-290 beginning on July 5. The meeting will be in an open house format with Tollway staff on hand to explain the project and answer any questions. The Village of Roselle is gearing up for the summer festival season, so please mark your calendars and save the dates for these fun events and activities coming up this summer!
Rose Festival, June 2-5: The Roselle Lions Club Annual Rose Fest is the official start of summer in Roselle. Come out and enjoy a family friendly weekend of music, food and fun June 2 through 5.
Run for the Roses, June 5: Registration is open for the Sternberg Lighting Run for the Roses 5K and 0.6K youth race scheduled for June 5, starting at 8:00 a.m. at Lake Park High School West Campus.
Rose Parade, June 5: The Roselle Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 57th Annual Rose Parade on Sunday, June 5. The parade will step off from Turner Park at 2:00 p.m. led by Grand Marshal Jared Wickstrom, the 2016 Roselle Chamber Business Person of the Year.
Summer Concert Series at Turner Park Thursday nights starting June 9: The Roselle Park District Summer Concert Series returns for 2016 with 10 free concerts showcasing music from a variety of decades and genres. Concerts will run every Thursday, June 4 through August 11, at Turner Park, 81 E. Devon Ave., from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Independence Day Celebration, July 3: The tradition of fireworks and the "Party in the Park" are returning to Roselle again this summer on Sunday, July 3 at Lake Park High School West Campus. The 2016 fireworks display is jointly sponsored by the Village of Roselle, the Exploding Turkey Trot 5K, and the Roselle Lions Club. The pre-fireworks "Party in the Park", featuring live entertainment, is again sponsored by Mission Church in Roselle.
Taste of Roselle, August 5-7: Roselle will celebrate summer with the 35th Annual Taste of Roselle August 5 through August 7. Bring family, friends, and your appetite and come out and enjoy the great food, live entertainment, carnival, Bingo tent, and craft fair. Taste of Roselle will be held on Main St., between Roselle Rd. and Park St.

Register to Participate in the Village-wide Garage Sale by June 3

Start cleaning out those garages and basements! Roselle's annual Village-wide garage sale is scheduled for Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Residents who would like to host a garage sale can register at Village Hall.
Residents need to register by June 3 to ensure inclusion on the map and flyer. A $5 non-refundable registration fee is required per address, which helps cover the cost of the ad placed in the Daily Herald and the creation of a map to all participating homes. The Village street map and a list of participating addresses will be available starting June 8 online, at the Village Hall, Police Station, Roselle Public Library, and the Roselle Metra Train Station.

Relay for Life Invites Cancer Survivors to Event

The organizers of Relay for Life of Roselle, Bloomingdale, Itasca and Medinah invite all cancer survivors to attend the survivor reception dinner and Relay for Life opening ceremony on June 10 at 6:00 p.m. at Lake Park High School East Campus, 600 S. Medinah Rd., as guests of honor.
Cancer survivors will receive two complimentary tickets to the reception dinner, which includes live music, activities, a survivor T-shirt, and a tribute during Relay for Life opening ceremonies.
