November 5: "Best Pizza in Lancerland" contest, hosted by the Lake Park Choral Parent Association, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lake Park High School East Campus, 600 Medinah Rd. Admission is $5. Visit the Lake Park Choral Parent Association website for details.

November 6: Beatles tribute band American English concert, hosted by American Legion Post 1084, at Lake Park High School West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the American Legion Hall, 344 E. Maple Ave. or by calling Fred Hossfeld, Jr. at (630) 894-8524. All proceeds will benefit disabled veterans at Hines VA Hospital.

November 7: Bloomingdale Township Electronic Recycling Event, 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Bloomingdale Township Highway Department, 6N030 Rosedale Ave. This event is free, but is limited to Bloomingdale Township residents (Roselle residents who reside in DuPage County) only.   

November 7: Schaumburg Township Shred and Electronic Recycling event, 9:00 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at the Schaumburg Township offices, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. This free event is open to Schaumburg Township residents only, proof of residency will be required.

November 8: Roselle United Methodist Church hosting Community Meal, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church, 206 S. Rush St. This event regularly takes place the second Sunday of the month and is free and open to the public.

November 9: Proposed 2016 Budget discussion during the Committee of the Whole meeting, immediately following the Village Board Meeting, 7:00 p.m. The proposed 2016 budget is available on the Village website.

November 13: Join the Roselle Park District for a Sock Hop celebrating their 50th anniversary. The event runs from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and includes  a DJ spinning 50s music, burgers and fries, root beer floats, and many more treats! Register online or call (630) 980-4200 for details.

November 19: League of Women Voters of Roselle/Bloomingdale join the LWV of Wheaton, the LWV of Elmhurst, and the LWV of Downers Grove-Lisle-Woodridge for "Heroin: The Human Story" at the Wheaton Park District Community Center, 1777 Blanchard Rd., Wheaton. Meet and greet starts at 7:00 p.m. with the program following at 7:30. This presentation is free and open to the public.

Open House Planned for Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements
Bike TrailThe DuPage County Division of Transportation, in partnership with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, is hosting a public open house on November 12 to present bicycle and pedestrian improvements in the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway (IL 390) region.

The open house will take place at the Itasca Recreation Center, 350 E. Irving Park Road, Itasca, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Attendees can arrive and leave at any time during the open house to learn about the planning process and provide comments. A brief presentation will be given at 5:30 and repeated again at 6:30. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Elgin O'Hare Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan will increase connectivity with existing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, improve bicycle and pedestrian access to transit and other key destinations, and enhance overall quality of life. Communities within the study area include all or portions of: Addison, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Elk Grove Village, Franklin Park, Hanover Park, Itasca, Roselle, Schaumburg, and Wood Dale. 
Lake Park High School Hosting Veterans Day Event 
Hire a VeteranLake Park High School is hosting a Veterans Day open house with student created displays of various World War II topics and dramatic readings on November 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 at Lake Park High School East Campus, 600 S. Medinah Rd.

Featured speakers at the event include Claire Adachi, a USO Volunteer who will provide a historical perspective of the role USO volunteers play; Seth Hible, Lt. Colonel, National Guard, who will share his experiences as a citizen-soldier who has had to leave his family and his teaching career due to various deployments over the past 30 years; and Colonel (Ret) Jill Morgenthaler, author, leadership expert, and international speaker, who will highlight her experiences as one of the Army's first female recruits.

Trinity Lutheran Church Hosting Community Clinic November 14 
Trinity Clinic For the ninth consecutive year, Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle is hosting "The Clinic",  a free outreach event for area residents in need, on Saturday, November 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Stop by the church at 405 S. Rush Street to receive free professional medical, dental, vision and chiropractic screenings; food; clothing; hair cuts; family photos; entertainment; a visit with Zippy the Comfort Dog; and more. Call (847) 289-7200 for additional information or to volunteer to assist during the event.
Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk Fundraiser for Roselle Fireworks
The 2nd Annual Exploding Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk, scheduled for Thanksgiving morning, will be held as a fundraiser for Roselle's annual fireworks display.

The 5K race will start on Bryn Mawr Ave. between Clauss Recreation Center and Lake Park High School West Campus at 8:00 a.m. and will have the same course layout as the Run for the Roses.

Registration for the Turkey Trot is $30 per person, and includes a long sleeve T-shirt and post-race refreshments. Medals will be awarded for winners for this chip-timed race. Volunteers are needed as well. Registration forms are available online at www.roselle5k.com and at Village Hall.

Scout Troops Collecting Items for Food Pantry 
food donation Cub Scout Pack 412 and Girl  Scout Troop 50572 are collecting items for the Roselle United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Scouts will drop off brown paper bags with list of needed items on local front porches next week. The bags will be picked up from participating households on November 15. Food Pantry Donations are also being accepted at Roselle United Methodist Church, 206 S. Rush St.

In addition to non-perishable food items, the pantry is also seeking donations of two-ply toilet paper and laundry detergent. Call Roselle United Methodist Church at (630) 529-1309 for more information.

Roselle Chamber of Commerce Holiday Party December 4   
New Chamber Logo Join the Roselle Chamber of Commerce & Industry as they host their Annual Holiday Party & Awards Banquet at the Bloomingdale Golf Club on December 4 starting at 6:30 p.m.  
 
Jared Wickstrom of Wickstrom Chevrolet will be recognized as the 2015 Business Person of the Year, and Don Smolinski will be recognized with the Brian K. Healy Service Award at the holiday party.

Marklund Day School Seeks Volunteers 
Marklund Marklund Day School and the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale are currently seeking volunteers. Marklund has immediate volunteer opportunities available for teens and adults, age 14 and older, interested in assisting with community outings, activities, special events and support services.

Marklund Day School is a non-public state-certified school that serves individuals ages 3 to 22 with medical, developmental and physical disabilities, as well as those on the autism spectrum. Marklund Philip Center is a residential and day program for children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and other special healthcare needs.
