Illinois Secretary of State Office Suspends Mailing Vehicle Registration Renewal Reminders
|
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White recently announced that his office is suspending mailing vehicle registration renewal reminders to the public due to the lack of a state budget. Those who want to continue receiving a reminder must sign-up to receive electronic reminder notices. This measure is expected to save the Illinois Secretary of State's Office approximately $450,000 per month. This practice is expected to continue at least until a state budget is approved. Residents who receive vehicle registration renewal notices via email will continue to have access to a pin number needed to renew their sticker online. Those who do not sign up for the electronic alerts will have to renew their vehicle stickers in person at a Secretary of State office.
