September 12: Lake Park Lancer Joust, an all-day marching band competition at Lake Park High School West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students & seniors, and $30 for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 students). Children 4 and under are admitted free.

September 13: Roselle United Methodist Church hosting Community Meal, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church, 206 S. Rush St. This event regularly takes place the second Sunday of the month and is free and open to the public. As part of Hunger Action Month, tours of the church's food pantry will be held on the hour between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m.

September 23: Roselle Police Department presenting "Scams, Shams & Rip-Offs" seminar, 7:00 p.m. at St. Walter Church, 130 W Pine St., Roselle. This free seminar is hosted by the St. Walter Men of Faith and is open to the community.

September 28: Roselle Police Explorer Post #151 Open House, 6:30 p.m. at the Police Station, 103 S. Prospect St. The purpose of the Police Explorer program is to introduce students ages 14 to 20 to careers in law enforcement. Call (630) 671-4044 for more information.  

Lake Park Educational Foundation Kicks Off Annual Sponsorship Drive


The Lake Park Educational Foundation's annual sponsorship drive kicks off in September each year. The foundation is seeking local businesses and community members to partner with Lake Park High School District 108 to support excellence in education through unique programming. Free Document Shredding Event September 26  
Paper shredder Roselle residents are invited to bring their confidential documents to be shredded on-site during a shredding event on Saturday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Roselle Metra Station south parking lot at Irving Park Rd. and Maple Ave.

The quantity of documents to be shredded is limited to no more than 100 pounds per person. If desired, participants will be able to watch as their documents are being shredded, and shredded paper will be recycled. This free event is sponsored by Itasca Bank & Trust Co.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Event September 26  
The Village of Roselle is participating in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, September 26. Visit the Roselle Fire Station, 100 E. Maple Ave. (north side of building, off Prospect St.) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of accumulated unwanted, unused, and expired prescription and over-the-counter drugs during this event. Medication should be taken out of the original container or packaging and placed in a zip-lock bag. Please recycle plastic vials at home. Liquids or syringes will not be accepted.

This is part of a national effort sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). For more information, call the Village Clerk's Office at (630) 671-2802.
Trug Take Back Day
Fire Department Hosting Open House September 27    
Fire Department Open House Join the Roselle Fire Department as they celebrate National Fire Prevention Week with an open house on Sunday, September 27. The open house will take place at the Fire Station, 100 E. Maple, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Fire Department Open House festivities will include tours, refreshments, demonstrations, touch-a-truck, handouts, and other fire safety information. The Fire Department Open House provides a great opportunity for residents to ask firefighters questions about fire safety issues.

Property Tax Assessment Information Available for Bloomingdale & Schaumburg Township Residents  
Tax Appeal The League of Women Voters of Roselle/Bloomingdale is hosting a tax assessment seminar this coming Tuesday, September 15, in partnership with Bloomingdale Township Assessor John Dabrowski and Schaumburg Township Assessor John Lawson.

The seminar will be held at Roselle Village Hall, 31 S. Prospect St., from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Members of the public are encouraged to attend this free community event to find out more about the property tax assessment and appeals process. 
Forest Preserve District of Cook County Celebrating Centennial  
Forest Preserve Cook County The Forest Preserve District of Cook County invites residents from Roselle and across Cook County to celebrate the district's 100th anniversary in September.

A week-long "100 Years/100 Events" centennial celebration kicks off September 20 and continues daily through September 27.
These celebration events are designed to help Cook County residents to explore and connect with their preserves.
