Episcopal Arts Series: Magnificat, April 15, St. James's, Richmond
The Episcopal Arts Series of the Diocese of Virginia is proud to bring the music ensemble Magnificat to Richmond. Tickets will go on sale in early March. More details to come.
 
Bishop's Spring Conference for Clergy, Lay Professionals & Spouses, May 4-6, Shrine Mont
 

Lisa Kimball, director of the Center for Ministry of Teaching and professor of Christian formation and congregational leadership at Virginia Theological Seminary, will be our speaker at the 2015 Bishop's Spring Conference. More details to come.   


Ana Hernandez, a nationally recognized leader in making music as an act of worship, will lead two workshops on Feb. 28: "Practicing Presence" from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and "Sound as Prayer" from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., both at St. Thomas', Richmond. On March 1, Ana will be at  the 11 a.m. service at St. Andrew's, Richmond, and the 5:30 p.m. service at St. Thomas', Richmond.

The Episcopal Church has released the Report to the Church 2015. Organized by the Five Marks of Mission, the report seeks to illustrate the Church's aim "to leverage church-wide resources to support mission in local contexts that are rich in vision, creativity and energy, but lacking in financial wealth."

Bloomfield Foundation provide grants that assist physically disabled children and young adults with the unique demands of their daily lives. Additional grants provide attendance at various camps programmed for these special individuals. Updated applications are now available on the diocesan website. Annual grant approvals are made subsequent to requests received by April 1 and or Oct. 1.

The Diocesan Committee on Stewardship provides workshops to parishes on a variety of stewardship topics. Workshops this summer will focus on planned giving and annual giving campaigns. Learn more and

Presented in partnership with Ford's Theatre, the Washington National Cathedral will host "Civil War to Civil Rights: The Last Great Speeches of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr."on March 4. Explore how the powerful words of Abraham Lincoln and the Dr. King still speak to the polarizing divisions of our nation and call for a unified American vision. Learn more. 

 

Mental Health First Aid Training sessions are being offered through the Richmond Police Department at 200 W. Grace St in Richmond from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. on Feb. 28 and March 14. These sessions are free to the general public, but space is limited. For more information about the program or registration, please contact the Rev. First Things First of Greater Richmond will offer clergy/counselor certification training for PREPARE-ENRICH, a

marriage/relationship inventory and education tool, on March 3. Learn more and register.  

  

From April 9-12, YCat Wellness Retreat will host "Yoga Therapy for People with Cancer and and Chronic Illness" at Roslyn Retreat Center. The Wellness Retreat provides comprehensive instruction and education: Learn and experience each aspect of YCat Yoga Therapy including: Movement exploration, Breathing practice, Guided Imagery, Relaxation, Meditation, Prayer and Sound in healing. "Buildings For a New Tomorrow" Symposium 

 

The Episcopal Church Building Fund (ECBF) will host "Buildings For a New Tomorrow" April 13-15 in Raleigh, N.C. The event is designed to help you think creatively about how to change the ways you use your church and grounds."

In addition to workshop speakers, the symposium will include Bishop Michael Curry of the Diocese of North Carolina; the Rt. Rev. Greg Rickel of the Diocese of Olympia; and keynote speaker Marlon Hall of the Awakenings Movement in Austin, TX. 

Registration is $625 and includes tuition, lodging, conference materials and meals. Commuter registration is $395 and includes tuition and meals.
