A Faith-Based Response to Gender Violence

On Feb. 28 at Trinity, Charlottesville, you're invited to explore how we as Christians can equip ourselves to respond to issues of gender violence.

In particular, we encourage high-school and college-age women and men to sign up and spend time in discussion to learn how to identify and respond to victims of trauma, with group leaders Margaret Edwards and Emily Rutledge.

Margaret is a trauma counselor at the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women's Center at the University of Virginia. A member of Our Saviour, Charlottesville, her work focuses on helping clients who have experienced interpersonal violence, sexual assault and stalking. Emily worked as an advocate for victims of sexual assault prior to teaching and then becoming a youth minister at Our Saviour.

There is a $15 cost, which includes lunch and outreach project materials. The student rate is $10. Limited scholarship assistance is available. Contact Kendall Martin at

[email protected] for more information.
