Reminder: Priests under license who wish to renew their licenses must submit a renewal application  by Jan. 30. Otherwise, they may be required to complete the initial application process in its entirety again. Canonically resident priests working outside of the Diocese or within but in non-parochial settings are to submit the Annual Clergy Report Form by Jan. 30.

 

The 2015 Mustard Seed Grant and the Bishop Peter J. Lee Endowment for Small Church Revitalization Grant Guidelines are now available online. Letters of inquiry are due by Feb. 16 and full proposals are due by March 2. For more information, contact Mary Ann Bryant in the Office of Mission and Outreach, mabryant@thediocese.net.

Join Christian churches in northern Virginia on Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at  Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Arlington, for the annual observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity as bishops of four communions gather and call all those who believe in Christ to pray together for unity.  This year's event is hosted by Bishop Young Jin Cho of the United Methodist Virginia Conference,  joined by Bishop Richard Graham of the Metro DC Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Bishop Ted Gulick of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, and Bishop Paul Loverde of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.

 

Vibrant Faith is sponsoring a two-day training experience, "Do What Matters!" on May 5-6 for church leaders at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Richmond. Join your diocesan Christian formation staff at this interactive training experience which "seeks to help leaders imagine and implement effective faith formation practices for today and for future generations." Offered at no cost to all Episcopal clergy of the Diocese of Virginia and their spouses, this mid-week retreat is a great opportunity for reflection and rest. Meals are included. Episcopal Day at the Capitol

On Jan. 22, the Diocese will join with

the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy to sponsor an Episcopal Day at the State Capitol in Richmond.  

 

The Virginia Interfaith Center is a nonpartisan coalition of faith communities that works to create progressive public policy by engaging people of faith about the call to advocacy.   

 

Participants will gather at 8:30 a.m. at St. Paul's, Richmond, and head to the General Assembly building by 9. After discussion and session, participants will  de-brief at St. Paul's at 1:30 p.m.
