Need to Know  

The diocesan offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26. The offices will be manned by a limited number of staff members Monday, Dec. 29 through 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, then closed again through Friday, Jan. 2. We wish you a  peaceful remainder of Advent, a merry Christmas and a joyful new year!

We are very close to meeting our goal of 100 new donors to the diocesan Mustard Seed Fund! Please help us meet this challenge and donate online, or mail a check to the Office of Mission and Outreach. Mustard Seed Grants work to strengthen the various ministries of our Diocese.

2015 UTO Grant Application information is now available online. All grant requests must be submitted electronically to Mary Anne Bryant  in the diocesan Office of Mission and Outreach by Jan. 15: [email protected].  

The Episcopal Church Foundation has released their Winter 2015 Webinar lineup. There is no cost to attend. Learn more and register.

The United Thank Offering is offering a $1,250 grant for young adults to provide start-up funds for a new project that focuses on any of the Five Marks of Mission. Deadline to apply is Feb. 1. Learn more.

Annual Council Open Hearings

This year, there are three ways to participate in the Annual Council Open Hearings of the Committee on Resolutions, the Committee on Constitution & Canons, and the Committee on Budget. 

 

1. Via e-Mail

Send your comments on the resolutions, amendments and/or budget to the appropriate committee for consideration by Tuesday, Jan. 20. These will be compiled and posted on the Council website on Wednesday, Jan. 21. When you submit an e-mail message, please use the subject line "Open Hearing Feedback."

2. On-Site Open Hearings

Attend an Open Hearing with the committees at the Downtown Marriott in Richmond, on-site at the Council meeting. These will take place at the following times. 

  • Resolutions: Thursday, Jan. 22, 4:30-6 p.m.
  • Constitution & Canons: Friday, Jan. 23, 1:45-2:30 p.m.
  • Budget: Friday, Jan. 23, 1:45-2:30 p.m.

3. Pre-Council Open Hearings Webinar

For the first time, attendees may join in a Pre-Council Webinar. This will take place on Saturday, Jan. 10, starting at 10 a.m., and participants may join from the comfort of their own homes. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the Council website, as well.
