Need to Know
Last Wednesday, a mudslide occurred in central Sri Lanka. This news comes following the Rt. Rev. Dhilorajo Ranjit's visit to the Diocese of Virginia. Bishop Dhilo is bishop of the Diocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He and his wife, Harshini, spent time in Virginia in October, and joined clergy at Shrine Mont for the Bishop's Fall Retreat last week. Please keep the people of Sri Lanka in your prayers. If you wish to make a financial contribution to relief efforts, please send your donation to the diocesan Office of Mission and Outreach (110 W. Franklin St., Richmond, Va. 23220).
This holiday season, many congregations in the Diocese are making a special effort to support work in Central America to ensure that families victimized by escalating violence get the protection and assistance they need. Foundation Cristosal is a faith-based human rights organization in El Salvador that exists to create a preferential option for the poor, and that is working regionally with governments and the church to protect families in-country. Visit Cristosal's website at www.cristosal.org and contact the Rev. Catherine Campbell at [email protected] to learn how you and your parish can directly support these families this holiday season.
2015 UTO Grant Application information is now available online. All grant requests must be submitted electronically to Mary Anne Bryant in the diocesan Office of Mission and Outreach [email protected] by Jan. 15.
