Diocesan Annual Giving Workshops
Members of the diocesan Committee on Stewardship will facilitate workshops on annual giving using The Episcopal Network for Stewardship's 2014 materials, "Walking the Way." The next workshop will take place today, August 13 at Calvary, Front Royal. For other dates, visit the diocesan events calendar. Ordination to the Priesthood, Sept. 13, St. Paul's, Bailey's Crossroads God willing, the Rt. Rev. Shannon S. Johnston will ordain the Rev. Liz Tomlinson to the sacred order of priests at 2 p.m 10:30 a.m. (please note corrected time) on Saturday, Sept. 13, at St. Paul's, Bailey's Crossroads, where Liz serves as deacon. Ordination to the Diaconate, Sept. 13, Epiphany, Richmond God willing, the Rt. Rev. Susan E. Goff will ordain Ms. Dorothy White to the sacred order of deacons (transitional) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Epiphany, Richmond. The presiding bishop has urged Episcopalians to observe Sunday, Aug. 17, as a day of prayer for those in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East living in fear of their lives, livelihoods, and ways of living and believing. The Rev. Dr. Rosemary Beales and the Rev. Emily Griffin will offer commuter core Godly Play training at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School, Alexandria, beginning Sept. 20. Learn more and register.
Frances Caldwell of GOTAP Consulting will offer a series of workshops: "Changes: Assessing them, Making them, Thriving with them." This year's workshop will help you sort through new ideas, practices that will work, and others that have run their course in order to find the balanced way to use the best of the old and new. The first workshop will take place TOMORROW at St. Christopher's, Springfield, on Aug. 14, with other dates and locations scheduled throughout August and September. Learn more and register now! Episcopal Campus Ministry at Virginia Commonwealth University is hosted by Grace and Holy Trinity Church, located at 8 North Laurel Street in Richmond, right in the heart of VCU. The campus ministry meets for worship and dinner on Sunday nights at 5 p.m., on Monday nights for discussion and on Wednesday evenings for supper and fellowship. The campus ministry also engages in service projects such as the weekly soup kitchen and Spring Break Mission Trips to Belize and other places. Learn more.

Leadership Program for Musicians Space is still available in for the 2014-2015 session of the Leadership Program for Musicians, offered in Richmond starting in September. Courses include Leadership of Congregational Song, Hymnody of the Christian Church, Resources for Effective Music Ministry and Philosophy of Church Music. Learn more.
