Bishop Launches Shout It from the Mountain Campaign

At this weekend's Bishop's Jubilee Celebration at Shrine Mont, Bishop Johnston announced the official launch of the Shout It from the Mountain campaign for Shrine Mont Camps. After spending nine months gathering pledges from many leaders of the Diocese of Virginia and beyond, the Shout It from the Mountain campaign has already reached over 60 percent of the target goal of $2 million, with $1,211,716 committed to the campaign. Camp friends and alumni gathered at Shrine Mont on Sunday, July 6, to learn about this development.

Now, we're excited to announce the launching of the public phase to raise the remaining 40 percent of our target goal - and we need your help to get there!

"Since we began fundraising, the enthusiasm for the Shout It from the Mountain campaign has been outstanding," said Bishop Johnston at Sunday's gathering. He outlined plans for a scholarship fund, as well as $600,000 worth of work that needs to be done on the three camp sites on the Mountain, adding that, should we reach the $2.5 million "stretch goal," we will also be able to subsidize camp staff salaries to make counselor pay more competitive so that staff will better reflect the diversity of our Diocese.

"I am thrilled to be part of this exciting announcement for the Shout It from the Mountain campaign," said Barbara McMurry, who serves as co-chair of the campaign with the Rev. Andrew Merrow. "We want to thank all of you who have helped make the campaign so successful so far."

We hope that you'll join us as we enter this exciting public phase of the campaign. We invite you to explore our brand new website, ShoutItfromtheMountain.org, to discover opportunities for getting involved. You can  make a pledge, or make use of our pledge calculator. You can also learn more about our plan or access helpful resources on charitable giving.

Then, help us spread the word. In the months to come, we'll be sharing pictures and stories on social media using the hashtag #ShoutIt, and we invite you to do the same.

Now's your chance to make a difference and give back to the transformative community of Shrine Mont Camps. Thank you, and thanks be to God! Amen!
