Need to Know

Please keep those who take mission trips this month in your prayers: Dr. Marigail Wynne of Buck Mountain Church, Earlysville, to Tanzania (4/8-5/7). If your church is not on this list, or corrections are necessary, please contact Megan-Drew Tiller at intern@thediocese.net or 800-DIOCESE x1019.

Does your church produce a live video stream of your worship service? Do you record and archive sermons? We're hoping to compile some resources for churches that are interested in posting live or recorded worship activities online, but first we need to hear back from our churches to learn what type of software or vendors you might already be using. Please contact Emily Cherry at echerry@thediocese.net to share your information.

International Bishops Visit Virginia

Churches throughout the Diocese of Virginia travel near and far to establish mission relationships. We have made connections with churches across the state, the country and the world. From time to time, we are also blessed to be able to host visitors from other dioceses around the world.

During the first two weeks of May, we will welcome the Rt. Rev. Filadelfo Oliviera Neto from the Diocese of Rio de Janeiro. He will be attend the Bishop's Spring Conference for Clergy, Lay Professionals and Spouses at Shrine Mont (May 5-7), but will also have time to travel around our Diocese. Representatives of the Diocese of Virginia visited Bishop Filadelfo in October 2013. The Diocese of Rio is focused in particular on new church plants and creative ways to provide continuing training to clergy.

From Oct. 18-24, we will host the Rt. Rev. Dhiloraj Canagasabey (he goes by Bishop Dhilo) and his wife Harshini from the Diocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka. They will attend the Fall Clergy Conference at Shrine Mont. Bishop Dhilo serves an historic diocese in a fascinating and beautiful land. His church is remarkably active in an array of social justice ministries in a country often facing ethnic, religious and political turmoil.

If you would like to connect with either of these two bishops during their visits, please contact Buck Blanchard, director of Mission and Outreach for the Diocese, at bblanchard@thediocese.net.
