During the first two weeks of May, we will welcome the Rt. Rev. Filadelfo Oliviera Neto from the Diocese of Rio de Janeiro. He will be attending the Bishop's Spring Conference for Clergy, Lay Professionals and Spouses at Shrine Mont (May 5-7), but will also have time to travel around our Diocese. Representatives of the Diocese of Virginia visited Bishop Filadelfo in October 2013. The Diocese of Rio is focused in particular on new church plants and creative ways to provide continuing training to clergy. If you would like to connect with Bishop Filadelfo, please contact Amy Williams at awilliams@thediocese.net.

Emmanuel Church in Southport England, in the Diocese of Liverpool, is interested in exploring a mission relationship with a church in the Diocese of Virginia. Emmanuel's proposal for a link is thoughtful and creative. This would be an excellent way for a church to have its first international relationship or to grow existing international relationships with our friends in the Diocese of Liverpool. For more information, please contact Buck Blanchard at bblanchard@thediocese.net.

Where are you going? The Office of Mission and Outreach wants to know! Is your church going on a mission trip this summer? Do you have room for more participants? Contact Megan-Drew Tiller at intern@thediocese.net or 800-DIOCESE x1019 with your plans.

"And Press with Vigor On."

The annual Bishop's Spring Conference for Clergy, Lay Professionals and Spouses will take place at Shrine Mont May 5-7.

As you may remember, the theme for our Annual Council in January was "Awake, My Soul, Stretch Every Nerve." At the Spring Conference, we will rely on the very next line of that hymn for our theme: "And Press with Vigor On." We'll use our time together of learning, fellowship and prayer to renew our ministries and spirits with vigor.

Joining us in these efforts will be keynote speaker Susan Luff, M.S., R.N., C.S. A student of renowned family systems theorist Edwin H. Friedman, Ms. Luff is on the faculty for the Center for Family Process. She also has a private practice in psychotherapy and systems consultation. Ms. Luff will use her experience and expertise to help us to address theologically the question of identifying the "elephants" in your room - both in a congregational setting and in your own relationship with God. Together, we'll explore how to move forward with healthy, strategic conversations on challenges and conflict. It promises to be an energizing discussion!

This year will also feature a return of our popular workshops, aimed at providing you with both inspiration and practical applications that you can use in your own parishes. We're making every effort to create a program that appeals to lay professionals, clergy and spouses.

Following the workshops on Tuesday morning, the afternoon will feature plenty of free time, including the option of scheduling a session with one of several massage therapists. We'll also join in worship and spend time in conversation with all three bishops.

The deadline for registration is Monday, April 28. On-site check-in will open at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 5.

If you have any questions regarding registration or scholarship availability, please contact Kendall Martin at kmartin@thediocese.net or 800-DIOCESE x1029.
