During the first two weeks of May, we will welcome the Rt. Rev. Filadelfo Oliviera Neto from the Diocese of Rio de Janeiro. He will be attending the Bishop's Spring Conference for Clergy, Lay Professionals and Spouses at Shrine Mont (May 5-7), but will also have time to travel around our Diocese. Representatives of the Diocese of Virginia visited Bishop Filadelfo in October 2013. The Diocese of Rio is focused in particular on new church plants and creative ways to provide continuing training to clergy. Emmanuel Church in Southport England, in the Diocese of Liverpool, is interested in exploring a mission relationship with a church in the Diocese of Virginia. Emmanuel's proposal for a link is thoughtful and creative. This would be an excellent way for a church to have its first international relationship or to grow existing international relationships with our friends in the Diocese of Liverpool.
