The bishop has announced that Mike Kerr will resign as treasurer in 2014 to serve as chief executive officer of the diocesan Trustees of the Funds. A search for a new treasurer is underway.

Please keep those embarking on February mission trips in your prayers: St. James's, Richmond, to New Orleans (2/9-2/15); St. Peter's, Purcellville, to Monrovia and Caldwell, Liberia (2/20-2/27); St. Stephen's, Richmond,to the Dominican Republic (2/23-3/1). The presiding bishop has called for a Day of Prayer for South Sudan, to take place on Sunday, Feb. 16.

The Episcopal Peace Fellowship chapter of Virginia Theological Seminary will host a lecture by Dr. Stanley Haurwas on Feb. 24: "Why Peace Requires Conflict." 7 p.m., Lettie Pate Evans Interim Chapel.

The Leadership Program for Musicians Spring workshop will take place March 7-8 with leader Walden Moore at Holy Comforter, Richmond. Episcopal Relief & Development offers free Lenten Meditation booklets, available online. Order by Feb. 15 to receive yours in time for Lent. ERD Sunday is the first Sunday in Lent, and you can access a planning guide online.

Food Ministry Newsletter
 
The second quarterly issue of the diocesan Food Ministries Newsletter is now available, featuring articles about Trinity, Charlottesville, and feeding programs for children.  
Grant Opportunities 
The United Thank Offering Grant Applications for 2014 are available online at utochange.org. All grant requests must be submitted electronically to Mary Anne Bryant  in the diocesan  Office of Mission and Outreach mabryant@thediocese.net  by Feb. 7. The Grants Review Committee will meet Feb. 18 to select those grants that will be recommended to Bishop Johnston. Please note that the screening committee must review and Bishop Johnston must approve any grant that goes forward to the UTO Board.
