Gatherings to explore and discuss the challenges youth workers face in our diocese.  

 

Stewardship of Creation Conference, Sept. 21, Our Saviour, Charlottesville (Register by Sept. 15)  

A special interfaith gathering with a focus on the challenge of food sustainability, including keynote speaker the Rev. Richard Cizik. 

 

Diocesan Youth Day of Service, Oct. 5, St. Thomas, McLean  

A time for youth to participate in a hands-on service project and learn about outreach.  

 

Fall Camp, Oct. 21-24, Shrine Mont  

The annual retreat from the Tri-Diocesan Council on Aging, with keynoter Phyllis Tickle.  

 

Seeing the Face of God in Each Other, Oct. 25-26, Buck Mountain Church, Earlysville  

Anti-racism training with the Committee on Race & Reconciliation.  

 

Bishop's Fall Clergy Retreat, Oct. 28, Shrine Mont  

A retreat to explore spirituality in leadership, led by all three bishops.  

 

Senior High Weekend, Nov. 8-10, Shrine Mont  

A gathering for high school students from across the Diocese.

  • There's still time to sign up for classes with the Leadership Program for Musicians, which offers courses to help anyone interested in church music learn more about liturgy, choral leadership, the philosophy of church music, and much more. Visit lpm-va.org for info.    
  • Virginia Theological Seminary will host a Jazz Mass of Remembrance and Renewal on Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. in honor of four young girls - Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley - who were killed in the bombing of 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala. Jazz from W.E.S. Group and African drumming circle followed by reception.    
Church Spotlight: Region V

Region 5 churches will gather on Saturday, Sept. 28 for a day of gleaning. Participants will gather at their respective churches at 7 a.m., travel to a local farm, and glean apples, broccoli and other fall crops for area food banks.
