  • The Virginia Episcopalian wants your submissions and feedback on the following subjects. Please send your photos, stories and feedback to Emily Cherry at echerry@thediocese.net by August 16.  
    • Does your church have any architectural oddities, like the National Cathedral's Darth Vader gargoyle? Share your pictures with us for the fall issue of the magazine. 
    • Has your church hosted any prayer services, discussions or forums surrounding immigration issues or immigration reform?   
  • Don't forget to complete your questionnaire as part of a feasibility study surrounding the future of Shrine Mont Camps by August 9. Only one person per household should complete the questionnaire.

Essential Building Dimensions: Christian Formation Special Event 

 

The Diocese of Southern Virginia and the Diocese of Maryland have partnered together to host "Essential Building Dimensions," a program for formation leaders in the Episcopal Church.  

 

Join your colleagues on Friday, August 23-24 at Virginia Theological Seminary for group discussions on spiritual wellness, digital communications and more.  

 

Registration is $100 and includes an overnight stay at VTS, plus meals and materials.  

 

Register by July 31 to reserve your spot.

GoTaP Consulting is pleased to offer creative Annual Giving workshops in August and September. Each workshop will provide everything you need to develop an inspiring narrative budget and a time line incorporating innovative plans for building a highly effective annual campaign. You will leave with plans for your 2013 campaign to present and celebrate the reason for giving, reflecting your life-changing ministries. The workshop will focus on communication, relationship building and financial capacity.

Workshops will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring dinner if you do not have time to eat before the workshop begins. There is a charge of $25 per person for the first three people; there is no charge for the fourth person from each church.

The workshops are open to all churches and we encourage each church to send three to four people representing the vestry, stewardship committee and clergy. The workshops are being partially funded by the Diocese of Virginia's Bishop Peter James Lee Endowment for Small Church Revitalization, benefiting churches with an average Sunday attendance of less than 200.

The Central Virginia Chapter of the Leadership Program for Musicians is now accepting registrations for the 2013-2014 academic year.  LPM is a continuing education program for church musicians, pastors, or those who love music and liturgy of the church and is supported by the Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.  We meet in Richmond monthly for five months and will be covering conducting, liturgy, teaching new music and philosophy this year.  Please visit www.lpm-va.org for more details.  Registrations received after September 1 will be subject to a late fee.
