"The movement of that energy is life. The freer that energy movement within each component, in keeping with its own integrity and cohesion, as well as that of the whole organism, the more intense the life."
                                                             John Pierrakos

Dear Community,

To stay connected to the work of Core Energetics touches our deepest longing. How can we bring people together who have been touched by this work and changed by its wisdom? This newsletter is an extension of that longing. We want to inspire, connect, support and inform a growing alumni community. You, dear reader are invited to be part of that expression. We welcome news items, articles, pictures and more! Please review our print guidelines below and email your news to: newsletter@coreenergetics.org

Participants at the 2014 Core Energetics International
Leadership Conference
Interview with Cees van Loom: Co-organizer of the 2014 Core Energetics International Leadership Conference
Cees van Loom and Klaus Stinshoff were two of the driving forces behind this year's Core Conference in Germany.
Kristina caught up with Cees to ask a few questions how the conference came about and what future plans may lie on the horizon.

Can you describe the events leading up to making the decision to realize the International Conference?

The decision to organize a Core Conference was taken during a director's meeting last year at the Wisdom House, New York. Klaus and I were part of the group that shared a vision about a "Core World Wide" movement. We both felt out strong passion to manifest a conference in order to reconnect Core people from all over the world. After John's death, for me it felt that the Core community fell apart and fragmented. My personal mission was to recreate the circle that I experienced so much before John's death.

Pleasure has always been a main component of Core Energetics (and knowing you as I do) I can imagine that bringing this together was a labor of love.  Were there many obstacles?

Indeed. I experienced the cooperation with Klaus as a continuous act of love, brotherhood and friendship. I also felt very supported by the directors of the Institutes (like Jorge Galindo, Warren Moe, Lisa Loustenau, Ann Bradney, Brian Marcia Gleason and Anna Timmermans). They created a space for us in which we could work and prepare the Conference. In this great atmosphere we didn't experience any obstacles and had such pleasure in preparing the Conference.

I recall when we were students at the New York Institute, hearing conversations about there being no cohesive worldwide community. How does it feel to have finally begun to fulfill this dream?

Just one word: Great! I'm proud that we did this and it is really a big step to a world wide community of Core people.

What are your plans for bringing more of the Core community into the next international conference?

Personally I have no plans, because it's now in the Directors' hands. A huge step was made as a result of the directors meeting; they decided to continue exchanges, to share knowledge, to continue to share Core all over the world, to support diversity and so on. The willingness to cooperate is never so big as now. For me it felt like many old wounds were healed.

And to answer another part of your question: yes, there will be a next Conference in two years time, in Italy where also alumni and students will be invited! The directors will continue and have annual meetings; next year in August.

Besides your vision of Core Energetics being connected worldwide, what is your vision on the ways to improve the popularity of this most important work?

Here is my list:

   · Work every day on improving quality standards.

   · Allow different modalities to grow (like EMM, Radical Aliveness).

   · Encourage cross-pollination between Institutes and Continents.

   · Give Core a stronger scientific base

(Brazil has a University where Core is part of the Bachelors program).

   · Raise funds to support people from minority groups to enter the Core        program.

   · Transform the current Core training programs in a way that they are not       only accessible for (future) therapists but also for business people.

   · Write and publish articles in books and magazines.

Drawing Inspiration from the Core Conference

Jessica Nygren & Kristina LeFever

Re-known Dutch artist, Els Crum attended the Core Conference in Germany and on the last day gifted each participant with an individual portrait.

In just four days she completed 66 portraits! Conference participant Achiel van Tienen, describes his experience of receiving the portrait; "My turn came on Sunday morning while someone was playing the grand piano in the room next door. My heart was open and I cried in gratitude. I want to share this portrait."

Dear Core People,

I'm very thankful to have done this portrait project with all of you.

It was a wonderful, amazing, inspiring, emotional experience and a great challenge for me.

Love

End of an Era: Closing the NYC Core Center
Charlie Corley & Ala Konopko-Ulanecki
As many of you may know, the New York Core Center will be closing its doors on October 30th this year. Fewer of you may be aware that the Center was started 34 years ago by John Pierrakos himself, as a home base for the Institute of Core Energetics.

The Institute outgrew the space years ago and moved on, but the location continued to house John's private practice and offer rental space to other Core Energetics practitioners. John's intention was to create a center that would allow core graduates to open their practice within a community, rather than being scattered around different locations in the city. After John's sudden passing in 2001, the New York Core Center was created (under its current name and operations), offering space not only for Core Energetics but practitioners of other modalities as well. Many dear ones over the years contributed to these efforts for the last 13 years

We thank all of you for sharing this incredible journey with us. Some of you have been here longer than the Center, in its current form, even existed, and you will remember the days when John Pierrakos walked our halls. Many of you completed your Core Energetics training here, saw your therapists here, or held sessions with your own clients in our space.

With love,

Charles and Ala

A Word with Warren
Warren Moe
There is much I could convey regarding my experience at the Berlin Conference, as with most experiences that bring me present into greater consciousness, the total impression is greater than the sum of its parts. With the risk of sounding grandiose, I came away from the conference with a renewed belief that Core Energetics is not merely a body-centered therapeutic modality but a movement. I felt united in this belief with many of the other leaders from around the world and it gave me a wellspring of hope that we are indeed on the right path. For that I am grateful for the shared vision of my colleagues and friends to manifest such a profound and lasting experience.
