On Friday, May 17th, Advocate Consulting volunteered at the
2013 Special Olympics Georgia Games at Emory University. Assigned to the Aquatics competitions, our team timed races, lead athletes to their spots, provided swimmers with dry towels and cheered.
It was an honor to contribute to this event! The smiles of pride on the athletes' faces as well as the gratitude shared by their families and coaches were gratifying. We also had the opportunity to work alongside other corporate volunteers including CenturyLink, AutoTrader.com and Booz Allen Hamilton to help things run smoothly.
Special Olympics is an international organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. More than 1,800 Special Olympics athletes from around the state descended on Emory University to compete in aquatics, track and field, soccer, badminton, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics and table tennis with 600 coaches to guide them.
