See What's Changed!
We have a new website! We're excited about the changes, and we hope you love them too. All the great content from our old website, including our webinar recordings, events calendar, and personal stories, is still available at the same address, www.sharecancersupport.org -- just in a shiny new package. All of the women photographed are SHARE participants, volunteers, supporters, and staff! Thank you for taking the time to check us out!
September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
Ovarian cancer has been known as the silent killer for too long. This month, please educate yourself and your loved ones about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, register for our webinar about managing recurrence, and connect with other women with ovarian cancer at our Survivors Celebration! Also, be sure to check out our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for information on ovarian cancer every Tuesday all month.
Signs and Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer
Possible ovarian cancer symptoms include:
  • Bloating
  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
  • Urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency)
Additional symptoms may include fatigue, indigestion, back pain, constipation, pain with intercourse and menstrual irregularities.

If you have these symptoms almost daily for more than two weeks, and they are not normal for you, see a gynecologist.
Calling all ovarian cancer survivors: It's time for our annual celebration!  Whether you are a seasoned SHARE volunteer, a helpline caller, or you have attended our programs, you are welcome to come and celebrate survivorship with us. Let's mark Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month with food, drink and friendship. Please RSVP.

It's Finally Here! A Second Helping of Life: SHARE's 40th Anniversary
Announcing Executive Chef Angie Mar

On Monday, September 19 at Chelsea Piers, we're celebrating
A Second Helping of Life for SHARE's 40th Anniversary! This year, we're thrilled to announce our Executive Chef is Angie Mar, head chef and new owner of West Village restaurant The Beatrice Inn

A native of Seattle, Angie's menu draws heavily from the rustic farmers markets of her childhood, with a focus on simplicity and seasonality. Meats accented by complimentary combinations of hearty fruits and herbs anchor her menu at The Beatrice Inn. A graduate of the French Culinary Institute, Angie is classically trained but the heart of her experience came from working under some of New York City's finest chefs including April Bloomfield & Sam Talbot, and in the kitchen at lauded Williamsburg hotspots including Reynard, Marlow & Sons, & Diner.

Angie recently purchased the Inn from former owner Graydon Carter, and is celebrating its reopening under new ownership on September 8.

There's still time to purchase tickets to taste Angie's signature dishes, and those of other celebrated New York chefs, at A Second Helping of Life! It's a delicious way to support the work we do at SHARE for women with breast and ovarian cancers. For tickets and more information, go to www.sharebenefit.org. See you there!

The MBCProject: Help Transform Our Understanding of Metastatic Breast Cancer
The Metastatic Breast Cancer Project (MBCProject.org) is a new research project launched by the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute that directly engages patients with metastatic breast cancer - and empowers them to accelerate research by sharing their samples and clinical information. The goal is simple: to create a patient-researcher partnership to speed discoveries and the development of new treatments for metastatic breast cancer.
