SHARE Advocate Testifies for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
|
 SHARE Ambassador and ovarian cancer survivor Lisa Franklin (far right) joined SHARE Executive Director Jackie Reinhard in testifying before the NYC Council Health Committee on September 18. They were supporting a resolution recognizing September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in NYC. The resolution was sponsored by City Councilman Rafael Espinal (3rd from right), whose mother died of ovarian cancer. The resolution passed!

Breast Cancer and the Environment, Tues, Oct 7, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Participants will learn to identify and avoid chemicals of concern in their daily lives and how to choose safer and affordable produce, personal care, cleaning, and even pest control products for themselves and their families.
Pink Ribbons: Screening, Tues, Oct 21, 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm This documentary on the commercialization of the breast cancer movement will be shown.
Both programs are part of SHARE's support services focused on the concerns of African, African-American, and Caribbean women and take place at 215 W. 125th St., 2nd Fl. (between Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. & Frederick Douglass Blvd.) in Manhattan. |

Lesbian Cancer Initiative: 8-week support group
|
The Center's Lesbian Cancer Initiative (LCI), in collaboration with SAGE and CancerCare, will run an 8-week, professionally facilitated group for those age 30 and over who are living with a cancer diagnosis. This group is open to anyone with a cancer diagnosis whether early stage, in- or post-treatment or living with metastatic cancer. The group will meet at CancerCare, 275 7th Avenue.
