The Happiest Time of The Year?
Well...not for everyone. Within the past six months, SHARE has lost Kim, a fierce advocate and peer match for young women. Tina, SHARE Ambassador, Helpline Volunteer and Support Group facilitator. Deb, a kind soul and peer match for young women. And Lee Miller. Lee is a founding member of SHARE who worked endlessly to improve the lives of women diagnosed with breast cancer. The loss is enormous and we are reminded daily when we come to work and are greeted with Lee's desk empty, or when a young woman calls and needs to speak with another young woman with metastatic disease and when organizations call to ask that Tina come and speak to them about breast cancer. THRU MY EYESTHRU MY EYES is a non-profit organization offering "living" legacies for the families and loved ones of people with life- threatening illnesses. Professional videographers and mental healthcare professors are made available at no cost to help guide the terminally-ill clients through what might be a very challenging task in presenting lasting messages to family members. The taping is done in the privacy of the patient's home. The organization was founded by two women with the sole purpose of empowering clients with the peace and knowledge in knowing that they will be remembered by those whom they loved the most. It is a coping mechanism that helps people who are terminally ill know that they have said all that needs to be said and therefore, remembered for generations to come. Basically what Thru My Eyes provides is a lasting memory to share in perpetuity. WWW.THRUMYEYES.ORG914-725-1836
