Social Action Committee

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are ready to launch our annual

Thanksgiving Basket Campaign. These baskets will be provided to families

which Yorktown Head Start has designated as the neediest in the area.

As you know, you can share the cost of a basket with

several of your friends. Each one must provide sufficient food for

a family of five and should include the following:

  •  A $20 or $25 gift certificate to a local supermarket for the turkey,
  •  fresh or canned yams or potatoes,
  •  stuffing mix,
  •  cranberries,
  •  cake mix or cookies,
  •  apple juice or other beverage,
  •  rolls,
  •  canned green beans,
  •  canned mushroom soup, and
  •  French onion rings (the last three items to make a green bean casserole).
  •  Instead of a basket, we ask you to provide a foil turkey baking pan as   the container. And you can easily wrap all the contents in cellophane available for purchase from A.C. Moore.

Baskets must be deposited in the YJC lobby by Novenber 17th

(but can be brought there earlier). Members of Social Action

Committee will be present between 10am and noon on the 17th

to receive the baskets.

Will you be part of this?

Sincerely,

The Social Action Committee
