FROM SOCIAL  ACTION

YOU ARE INVITED.........to a Penny Social sponsored by the Social Action Committee.

Food - Fun - Door Prizes!  Please bring the kiddies!

Date:  Sunday, June 9th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with winners called at 12:30 p.m. (You do not have to be present to win)

WE ARE ALSO EAGER................to receive donations for our "Penny Social."  Items can include:  tickets to sports games, gift cards of any type, household items, nice pens, art supplies, pet supplies, cookbooks, best sellers, toys and games,  bath and body products and sports items.  Donations can also include new  or never used  items in your home. Your clutter is someone else's treasure!  How about that extra bottle of wine that has been sitting in your cabinet?  Or donate funds directly to Social Action.

We need all donated merchandise by Memorial Day, delivered either to the large special box we have placed in the YJC lobby, or to Deb May's home (you can leave it on her porch) at 1410 Chatham Lane, YH.  You can reach her at deborah.jackson@cushwake.com or 917-848-3764.

Every penny will go towards easing local poverty  such as providing monthly dinners for the residents of the Jan Peek Homeless Shelter, bringing ongoing groceries to the food pantries at St. Mary's and First Presbyterian Church, and for other great area programs.

Dear Friends:

Here is the new date for the YJC Mission to Israel

Depart: Sunday, December 8th, 2013

Return:  Friday, December 20th, 2013

Our first meeting will be on June 17th at 7:30pm

This date has now been accepted as firm, and, I am arranging with our highly experienced tour operator, Keshet Tours, to draw up an itinerary. The trip will include sites essential for first time visitors, as well as appropriate for seasoned Israel travelers.

That is the good news. The better news is that the change will not add anything to the cost of the trip, and, I am working with Keshet to bring the cost closely in line with the low end of our original estimate of 4000 to 4400 dollars per person -

all expenses included. We will not sacrifice comfort or safety, but, rather, enjoy several advantages in our favor.

By next week, I expect to have all the relevant

information that we need to move forward, including firm pricing, well developed itinerary, and a date for our first meeting with our tour operator.

Please mark your calendar to join me as we venture together to Eretz Yisrael!
