U.S. AND CHINA GOING ON THE DEFENSE

China on Sunday conducted the second test of a new anti-ballistic missile defense interceptor that United States officials say is directly linked to Beijing's secret anti-satellite weapons program.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon on Sunday announced it conducted a successful test of a long-range anti-missile interceptor.

China's Defense Ministry announced the test, according to the official state-run Xinhua news agency, which quoted an official saying "the test has reached the preset goal."

Pray that the United States and China find mutual understanding on how to work together in building a lasting relationship to better serve their citizens. Pray for peaceful resolutions to mounting tensions and distrust between the military leadership of both the U.S. and China. Pray for God's wisdom and protection to be over all matters of strategic importance between the U.S. and China.

"As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him." (Psalm 18:30)

PENTAGON EXPANDS CYBER SECURITY FORCE

The Pentagon is moving toward a major expansion of its cybersecurity force to counter increasing attacks on the nation's computer networks, as well as to expand offensive computer operations on foreign adversaries, defense officials said Sunday.

The expansion would increase the Defense Department's Cyber Command by more than 4,000 people, up from the current 900, an American official said. Defense officials acknowledged that a formidable challenge in the growth of the command would be finding, training and holding onto such a large number of qualified people.

Pray that with this increase in security over cyber communications the U.S. will be more secure from deliberate attacks on our cyber infrastructure. Ask the Lord to grant His wisdom to all those who are assigned to watching over our communication systems.

"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makes me dwell in safety." (Psalm 4:8)

SENATE GROUP REACHES IMMIGRATION DEAL

A powerful group of senators from both parties has reached a deal on the outlines of a comprehensive immigration overhaul, a development that will drive an emotional debate on a hot-button issue unseen in Washington for more than half a decade.

The group is expected to unveil the basics of its proposal at a Monday news conference on Capitol Hill, essentially laying down a marker on the issue one day before President Barack Obama heads to Las Vegas to unveil more details about his own immigration proposal.

Pray that the U.S. will find the reasonable approach to dealing with the increase in immigration numbers. It appears that many political factions are using immigration as a vote-buying scheme while others are very concerned with helping distressed immigrant families that are in need of protection and nurture under the wings of U.S. authority and aid. Pray that those who are righteously motivated and qualified will adopt an effective, beneficial plan.

"You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God." (Leviticus 19:34)

"For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste." (Isaiah 60:12)

MASSIVE EXPLOSION: IRAN'S FORDOW FACILITY?

Reports of an explosion at Iran's Fordow nuclear facility surfaced late last week and have been independently confirmed today.

The Jerusalem Post cites a report by Reza Kahlili who said: "The blast shook facilities within a radius of three miles. Security forces have enforced a no-traffic radius of 15 miles, and the Tehran- Qom highway was shut down for several hours after the blast."

There is so far no news on what might have caused the explosion. One question is whether it was the result of an attack on Iran.

Pray that the full truth about the Fordow Facility explosion will come forth. Pray that if this event is true as reported that it will stop Iran's nuclear bomb production capabilities once and for all. Pray for those who may be trapped in the underground facilities. Pray that they and their families will call upon the Lord Jesus Christ who saves and delivers.

"The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies." (Psalm 41:2)

IRAN: U.S. PASTOR SAEED SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS

Christian pastor Saeed Abedini, an American imprisoned in Iran on charges of evangelizing, was sentenced this morning to eight years in prison.

According to the American Center for Law and Justice, Abedini was verbally sentenced in Tehran by Judge Pir-Abassi, known as the "hanging judge," to eight years in prison for threatening the national security of Iran through his leadership in Christian house churches. He will serve the time in Iran's notorious Evin Prison, known as one of the most brutal.

Pray that Saeed Abedini will be released from the bonds of the Islamic cult leadership in Iran. Pray that Saeed's family will be comforted during this trial. Pray that God will strengthen and encourage Saeed who is in a place to bear God's witness to those who do not know Jesus. Pray for his protection and anointing to preach God's Holy Word to the lost souls of Iran.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)

U.S. BIBLE-MINDED CITIES

From its place in schools, to the public square, to people's individual lives, the current and future role of the Bible in U.S. society is an often-debated topic. A new release from Barna Group shows how this debate plays out regionally and takes a look at how 96 of the largest cities in the nation view the Bible.

Pray for an increase in the awareness of the power of God's Word to bless and set people free. Pray for whole cities to come to Christ on bended knee. Ask the Lord to give your community to Christ Jesus. Lift the area that you live in to the Lord. The Lord encourages us to ask Him for the things that are on our hearts that are righteous.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)
