The Town of Fairfield enjoys a relatively compact and walkable downtown, with a diverse array of restaurants, retail shops, offices and other commercial establishments, with nearby residential neighborhoods offering a mix of housing types and styles. Fairfield enjoys a robust and vibrant restaurant scene offering everything from casual pub fare to upscale eateries to suit the most discriminating palate. Meanwhile, shoppers can find a variety of national retailers, specialty boutiques and local mom and pop stores that help give the downtown a unique sense of place. Fairfield's downtown is accessible by train, and the downtown also serves as a major transportation hub with surface parking for more than 1100 vehicles.
