Thank you very much for your continued prayer support of Metanoia Prison Ministries. We hope you will continue to lift us up in prayer on a regular basis.

Metanoia is in need of your help! In early September we sent out information to 120 prisons where women are housed. The response has been overwhelmingly great! We received nearly 300 new student applications, mostly from women.

We are in need of men and women to join us in serving as a Corresponding Discipler for one of these students. It takes about 1 hour per month to do and costs you nothing. We will provide the answers and postage. We just need your time. If you already have a student, perhaps you can handle another. Or, could you recruit a friend to serve with us? For more information contact Shelly Marshall at: [email protected].

October Update & Praise
  • We recently received nearly 250 female student applications! If you would like a female student, please contact Shelly.
  • The seminars I presented at the COPE Conference were well-attended and the feedback was positive. One man came from Nigeria just to hear the material of a particular seminar I presented!
  • I have been invited to Ghana by another man who was at the COPE Conference. He wants me to train pastors and lay leaders.
  • On September 27 I was voted to serve as a Ruling Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. I am humbled by this and will rely upon the Spirit as I serve the wonderful people here in Chattanooga.
October Prayer Requests
  • Please pray for 88 more mentors to join us at Walker State Prison.
  • Please pray for more churches and individuals to support us financially. We desire to expand the mentor ministry in GA as well as some other things for which we need increased giving.
  • Please pray for the expansion of the mentor ministry throughout the State of Georgia. We need to find champion churches who can lead the way.
  • Please pray for Shelly as she keeps up the daily work of maintaining the correspondence ministry. (especially in light of 100 new student requests in the last week!)
  • Please pray for the creation of our national database. Someone is working on this for us and it will link together churches, prisons, prisoners, service providers, etc.
  • Please pray for my educational pursuits. I am working on two degrees simultaneously in addition to my other duties as a husband, father, employee, etc. Studying is often the last thing on my mind after a long day.
