20th Annual Women's Economic Opportunity Conference - Saturday, June 4, 2016  Sponsored by U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy and his wife Marcelle, this annual conference brings together hundreds of women from around Vermont for a full day of workshops designed to meet all skill levels.  In the interest of making the conference accessible to all, there is no charge for registration, lunch or prearranged child care but registration is required.  The 2016 keynote speaker will be U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Learn about Built by Newport's Lean culture and operational transformation at this free forum open to all manufacturers. Built by Newport (formerly Newport Furniture Parts) has streamlined processes through a series of Lean improvements including reduced set-up times, better standardization of organization and workflow, optimization of plant layout and cells, and importantly, employee participation. The forum will begin with a presentation highlighting the company's Lean journey and successes, followed by a tour of the facility.  In addition, representatives from the Northern Forest Center and the Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association, both important partners in Built by Newport's transformation, will be available to provide information about programs to support wood manufacturers innovation and growth. There is NO FEE for this forum, but you must pre-register.

Innovation Engineering We're planning a number of Innovation Engineering (IE) related trainings this summer and fall; we'll send a communication to you once they are confirmed in date and location as they are not currently posted on our site.

* IE Express - A 4-hour introduction to the Innovation Engineering systems for company leaders.

* IE Fundamentals - A one-day workshop that teaches foundational Create, Communicate, and Commercialize skills.

* IE Academy - A series of four half-day learn-and-apply sessions and coaching support to help small companies accelerate new ideas.

Innovation Engineering (IE) is a scientific system and a mindset that enables never-ending innovation by everyone, every day, resulting in increased speed-to-market and decreased risk.  IE enables a culture where everyone works together on "innovation". IE can be applied to new products or services, new customers or markets, new business models, or internal system improvements.
