Important Dates Ahead for SFH Land Approvals!
October and November are busy months for our residential community reviews and (hopefully!) approvals! Please mark your calendar for the following:

Tuesday October 4 - Pleasanton City Council - 7 p.m.
The Pleasanton City Council will formally review the Irby Ranch subdivision which includes land for SFH, following a 5-0 vote of approval by the Planning Commission.

Thursday October 6 - Livermore Historical Preservation Committee - 7 p.m.
The city of Livermore will review our plans to preserve the Schonene home as part of our 45 unit residential community.

Tuesday October 18 - Livermore Planning Commission Meeting - 7 p.m.
The Livermore Planning Commissioners will formally review our application for our new community on First Street in Livermore

Monday November 28 - Livermore City Council - 7 p.m.
We are hoping to be on the city council agenda for this meeting. More to come but please reserve the date. This would be the final, formal approval of our 45 unit community!

Please note that your appearance at these meetings DOES make a difference! We hope you'll attend to let our elected officials and commissioners know that a residential community for individuals with special needs is needed!

Thank You to All of our Moonlight in the Vines Sponsors, Donors and Attendees!
It is with great pride, excitement and gratitude that the Sunflower Hill team sends a heart felt thank you to every one who made our annual event a meaningful and overwhelming success. From our wonderful sponsors, to our families and friends who participated in the event, to our outstanding team of volunteers, our incredible partnership with McGrail Vineyards and our local county and city leadership. WE THANK YOU ALL!

With your help, Sunflower Hill raised over $80,000, in addition to the $500,000 from Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty!!

All the pictures that were taken can be seen here on our flickr album. And if you took pictures in the fun photo booth, those can be seen here. Huge THANKS to Gina Coomber from Firebox Girl Photography for being our event photographer once again!

This year's event was special! Not only did our event grow in every category we measured (sponsorships, family participation, funds raised, quality of the event), we also made great strides in getting our important message out to the community. As great of a success this year was, the Sunflower Hill team is very happy to announce we have started our planning process for next year's Moonlight in the Vines Event. We are committed to an even larger event that continues to drive home our message and commitment to our vision of creating an intentional residential community for special needs adults. Please watch for our updates in our monthly newsletter to see how your generosity is leading the way in achieving our critical milestones. So let's all Reach for the Stars as we continue on this wonderful and courageous journey.

Sunflower Hill Gardens Update
Our crops have done very well this year! In addition to donating to several local food banks, we have sold produce to the local community and several local restaurants including The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards and Catering, Double Barrel Wine Bar, Sideboard, Handles Gastropub, and Casse-Croute Bakery. We had a fun family workday in July and several new special needs individuals and volunteers to the garden this summer.

We have also expanded our internship program from 2 to 3 individuals, with a 4th individual now in the candidate assessment period!

We are thankful to the various groups who have helped us, including Salesforce, Cresco Express, Armanino LLP and National Charity League. We are also very thankful to the Pleasanton North Rotary for building our first picnic table as well as putting down the cement slab for our new shed, and the Rotary Club of Livermore for building and paying for two more beautiful new picnic tables. The school year has begun and we are excited to start our weekly educational and vocational programs again in the SFH Gardens!

Thank you to the Kids of Lynnewood United Methodist Church!
A BIG THANK YOU to these wonderful kids from Lynnewood United Methodist Church in Pleasanton for holding a lemonade stand over the summer to raise money for Sunflower Hill! They made $50.50 for SFH and we are so honored and grateful!

Meet our new Sunflower Hill Gardens Intern, Teresa Fernandez!

Introducing our newest intern- Teresa Fernandez!

We are very pleased to announce Teresa has officially begun a SFH Gardens internship on August 1, 2016.

Teresa had been attending SFH Gardens on Friday mornings for over a year as a member of the RES Danville adult day program. She was enjoying it so much and doing such a nice job that she has now become an SFHG intern and is working with us in the garden three mornings per week. Every day she is learning more about gardening and how to lead work teams.

She is a hard worker and has a beautiful, sunny spirit that we very much enjoy having around us! We are blessed to have her as part of our team. Welcome Teresa!
