Sunflower Hill is 4 years old! 
It was April 2012, when a group of parents met at Starbucks in Pleasanton to formally begin the process of creating an organization called Sunflower Hill. We're grateful how far we've come since then and much of it has to do with our wonderful board members and advisors. This year, we're adding six new board members to our team:  Kathy Layman, Tanya Ludden, Michael Miller, Rashmi Prasad, Melody Royal, and Debi Zentner. Also joining our advisor team is Matt Rusca, president of Grandflow

Sunflower Hill Gardens Family Workday and Organic Plant Sale is This Saturday!
Our next Sunflower Hill Garden Family Workday is this Saturday, April 16, from 9:00-11:30 a.m. This will be our big Spring Planting Day! We will be transplanting our tomatoes, eggplants and peppers seedlings into the prepared garden beds and we will also have some fun activities to do on the side. Refreshments will be provided.

To register for this event, please email us at gardens@sunflowerhill.org, let us know how many are coming and if you are bringing an individual with special needs.

We are also hosting an organic fruit and veggie plant sale this same morning! 
If you haven't been to Sunflower Hill Gardens at Hagemann Ranch yet, our address is

Moonlight in the Vines is July 30!

This year's Moonlight in the Vines will be on  
Saturday, July 30, from 6-10 p.m. 

We will be holding this exciting event once again at the beautiful McGrail Vineyards in Livermore! We'll have live music and dancing, fabulous food, award winning wines, bocce ball, silent auction, raffles, and much more! All proceeds to benefit Sunflower Hill and help further our mission to develop a community for individuals with special needs that provides for life-long residency options and quality activities/programming - akin to 'senior living.'

Tickets are on sale now and we have a variety of sponsorships available as well.

Join us for a Planning Commission Workshop on April 27!
The city of Pleasanton has scheduled a Planning Commission Workshop on Wednesday April 27 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers to review the proposed planned unit development and subdivision by Concentric Development. Included in the review will be a future site for Sunflower Hill. This is an opportunity for local residents and the general public to ask questions and get more details. To see Sunflower Hill's conceptual design, visit our website. We've also posted new FAQ's that provide more details on affordable housing and the planning process.  

East Bay Gives - Tuesday, May 3
East Bay Community Foundation's East Bay Gives starts at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3. It's a fantastic way to support local non-profit organizations in the East Bay with positive reputations that are doing excellent work in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Please log on anytime on May 3rd for the chance to support Sunflower Hill. You have a full 24 hours to give, from 12:01 a.m. May 3rd until midnight that night. Thank you for helping us create a sustainable, diverse, life-long residential community for adults with special needs that's akin to senior living. We hope you'll join us and help support Sunflower Hill on May 3rd!

Sip-N-Paint Event!
Please join us on Wednesday, June 8 for our first "Sip-N-Paint" event in our gardens where we will be painting a beautiful sunflower! This will be a fun evening to relax, laugh and learn with experienced artists who love to share their love of the arts. 

The evening includes a glass of wine, 3 hour painting instruction with local artists Kat and Jeremy Hartgraves from Inner Artiste, and everything you need to create your masterpiece. 

Cost $60.00 per person 
Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and painting is from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
